Hi friends,
It’s been a while.
For those who have been following Kopi Club since the beginning, you know that we release a newsletter every week without fail. In this new “Quarantine Life”, it was one of the things we looked forward to and took great peace in: the regular calls, the writing and rewriting; space to simply create.
In the last two weeks, we have taken a break from sending out our regular weekend issues. We don’t want to gloss over the pain, suffering, and outrage that people are experiencing - from the atrocities happening in the United States to the seemingly never-ending cycle of injustices coming to light around the world. We stand in solidarity with our BIPOC brothers and sisters.
Even more so than previous weeks, we have found it difficult to articulate our thoughts and feelings in a meaningful way. In these past two weeks, a lot of unheard voices have gained strength. In that immediate period, we wanted to respect those voices and let them be heard without distraction.
And while taking this step back, we - like many of you - have been trying to better educate ourselves. Moving forward, we are reminded of the promise we made in our first week: to share not only the Bests, but the Worsts. To continue to navigate and push through this state of limbo, even with the discomfort it brings. Writing, drawing, music - these are our languages of healing. And as they did before, we will turn back to these mediums as a means of growing.
We hope you are all staying safe; we’ll be back next week!
Hugs,
J & N
